Reflection on ai

I still have serious reservations and negative thoughts about AI as a whole. Specifically, I believe that AI usage in media is dangerous and has negative effects on the environment and the reliability of accuracy in the media that we consume as Americans. Today, every time that I see a video or a photo on social media I have to ask myself whether or not it is AI. Recently, FOX News used AI videos of Black people complaining about SNAP benefits as a way to defend Trump from criticism of the government shut down. I found this incredibly dystopic and racist yet many people were never able to see that it was an artificial creation and not based on real people. However, for this project I used ai to create a short video that I thought was very interesting. I had AI animate several photos that I had taken and make them look like they had been made into a video. It was a short process, but one that I thought had an interesting final product. Sora.ai created an imagination of what my pictures were like in the moment. They thought they were predicting how these moments played out and they were wrong. AI still has a long path of development ahead of them when it comes to being the all knowing tool it is marketed as, but it is still very interesting skill that basically anyone can have access too. AI can be used to imagine whole new worlds, but it still lacks the humane touch that makes true art or makes a truly imaginative person.
